To begin with, the current event the article deals with is ‘Why people still use Blackberry’s’. Everyone who owns a Blackberry, who once owned one, and every person who has used a Blackberry just once, is involved with the article.
Furthermore, the problems the article comprises are the features that make a Blackberry an addiction for people. Why is the Blackberry thus far in usage and the most popular smartphone? According to the article, the answer to this question is based on three reasons. Primarily, people have a weakness for the click-clacking keyboard. Subsequently, they love the red blinking light on the top, and lastly, they use the phone for work. The author, John D. Sutter, affirms his bias in his article. He certainly does not support Blackberry’s. He supports his point by stating that Blackberry’s are old-school, don’t really run apps, cannot store a lot of music, and finally, that their screen is too small. The aspects that were excluded from the article were the negative effects the Blackberry includes within the person’s life. When people purchase this phone, they depend on it to manage their lives. People become irresponsible and start completing their homework, for example, on school grounds instead of their home. Moreover, people become socially inactive in a way because they are distracted chatting in their BBM’S; instead of having a real conversation with the person/persons beside them. A Blackberry is a social entertainment that has become an obsessive and disturbing hobby for human beings.
To conclude, I do not fully consent on the existence of Blackberry’s. In my personal judgment, everyone who has a Blackberry has once complained about it. Although the keyboard is comfortable, the click-clacking sound gets really annoying. The function of the red blinking light was created so you could become hysterically addicted to your Blackberry. Blackberry’s, admittedly, can become helpful to complete your work, but they will create a negligent person because they will decrease your responsibilities. People purchase Blackberry’s because it’s the phone trend, but they are not aware of the consequence. As I stated before, BBM’s become a compulsion and you do not respect the people you are with afterwards. You would be surprised of the amount of free time you would have if you did not have a Blackberry. Blackberry’s are helpful, but sometimes people forget about the real world because they are so involved on the technology world.
